Mateta had been a long-time target for United, who are keen to bolster their squad with a new striker this summer, report Mail Sport. The Frenchman is inclined to stay at Palace, though, as they prepare for their first-ever European campaign.

Delap had been the main target for United, with technical director Jason Wilcox disappointed to miss out on the player having held a relationship with him from the Manchester City academy. The England Under-21 international is set to sign for Chelsea instead.
