AC Milan’s technical director has spoken of the club’s pride at bringing the best out of “underrated players” such as USMNT star Christian Pulisic.

Geoffrey Moncada used to work as a scout so takes great pleasure in seeing transfer gambles pay off. That has certainly been the case with United States international Pulisic, who has become a talismanic presence at San Siro on the back of his 2023 transfer from Chelsea.

Milan have also found value in other additions who were written off elsewhere, with Moncada saying in a case study pieced together by : “We have to accept it. In recent years we have brought great players to the club, and as a former scout I see it as a personal challenge the objective of taking underrated players and making them perform at the highest level.”

While the Rossoneri have been able to land the likes of Pulisic, Moncada has revealed that the Serie A giants have missed out on a number of other superstars in the making. He added on transfer regrets: “We tried to sign, at the time 17 years old, Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham when he was 20, but we could not compete with Real Madrid.”

Milan will never be able to compete on a level footing with Galactico-hunting Real in the transfer market, but they will be hoping to unearth more hidden gems – such as Pulisic – when further bolstering their ranks in upcoming windows.
